MPHPL library card holders can use the AtoZ World Food digital online database free of charge inside or outside the library. This culturally rich library resource contains more than 7,000 recipes from 174 countries, along with thousands of ingredients, food culture and reference articles – making it the largest food database of its kind!
Jennifer Ludwig, the Director of Public Services at the Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library, said, “This database will take you on a culinary trip around the world without leaving your kitchen! You will learn how to make delicious traditional dishes while learning about new countries and how cultures influence the cuisines. Cookbooks are very popular at the library. In the past, we’ve never been able to offer a cookbook for so many countries of the world, so we’re very excited to offer this digital database to our patrons.”
Anyone can access AtoZ World Food using the library’s computers or outside of the library from anywhere in the world while using the MPHPL AtoZ World Food portal. All you need to use the database outside of the library is your active MPHPL library card. The database also enables users to forward recipes to friends by email.
AtoZ World Food was designed for culinary institutes, students, world travelers, cooking clubs, adventurous eaters and anyone who wants to learn about world cuisine without purchasing individual country cookbooks. Plus, the AtoZ World Food database supports non-English speakers with content available in 103 languages.
