About VITA
The VITA Program is funded by the Internal Revenue Service and provides free tax preparation to people who need assistance. The program has been operating nationwide for more than 50 years. It serves low- to moderate-income families, people with disabilities, seniors, and individuals who have limited English skills.
VITA services are free and offer a trusted way to file accurate tax returns.
All VITA volunteers must complete IRS-approved tax training. They are also trained to protect the privacy and confidentiality of all taxpayer information. Every tax return prepared at a VITA site is carefully reviewed for accuracy before it is filed.

Library Director Donna Meeks said, “Every year, our patrons rush to sign up for this excellent service. The appointments fill up fast, so not everyone gets a seat. That said, there are multiple locations across the county also taking reservations. Librarians are information experts, but we are not tax professionals. Kudos to Goodwill for taking this on and providing true peace of mind to so many during what can be a most dreaded annual ‘must do.’”
