
The Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library is excited to announce author Rebecca McKanna will speak at the downtown Mishawaka Library on Thursday, June 26, from 5 to 7 p.m.
McKanna was born and raised in Iowa. Her debut novel, Don’t Forget the Girl, was nominated for the 2024 Lambda Literary Award in LGBTQ+ Mystery and the 2023 Strand Magazine’s Critics Award for Best Debut Mystery. It was awarded the 2024 Indiana Authors Award for Genre Fiction.
Her short stories have been anthologized in The Best American Mystery Stories 2019 and recognized as distinguished in The Best American Short Stories 2019. She is an associate professor of English at the University of Indianapolis.
The Mishawaka-Penn Harris Public Library received a grant from Indiana Humanities through the Indiana Authors Awards Speaker Program to host McKanna. This program is made possible with the support of Glick Philanthropies.
MPHPL Community Engagement Coordinator Kate Rhoton said, “We are honored to receive this grant, which allows us to welcome the public to meet award-winning author Rebecca McKanna. Our event provides an opportunity for adult readers to come together to learn more about McKanna and her works in a welcoming space.”
The event is free and open to adults. Participants must register to reserve their seats.
