Job Description
This position oversees the staff and daily activities of Adult Services at the assigned location, provides outstanding patron experiences and communicates patron and staff needs to the Adult Services Coordinator.

LOCATION: Mishawaka Library (location subject to change)
DEPARTMENT: Adult Services
HOURS: Full Time
- 40 hours per week
- At least one evening per week and weekend rotation
(hours subject to change)
WAGE: $29.21
Essential Job Duties
- Present a positive role model for team members
- Supervise, train and evaluate Adult Services staff
- Facilitate the continued development of the Local Family & History collection, including current and future digitization efforts
- Assist at public desk as needed
- Assign/participate in reader-advisory tasks, collection support and other Reference activities
- Promote adult literacy initiatives (such as the Summer Reading Challenge) and patron programming
- Participate in professional development
- Participate in system-wide staff trainings and cross-departmental training
- Participate in short or long-term system-wide projects and collaborative work
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications
- MLS degree from an ALA-accredited library school
- At least two years of library supervisory experience is preferred
Work Skills
- Strong commitment to excellent customer service
- Proficient in circulation and reference processes
- Good communication skills and ability to multitask
- Ability to instruct patrons and staff in library technology; ability to learn new technology quickly
- Experience with genealogy and digitization is preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to pull a loaded cart
- Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds
- Ability to frequently stand, bend or stoop
- Ability, stamina, and balance to perform basic movements frequently

The Security Technician helps maintain a safe and welcoming environment for our community and staff.

LOCATION: Mishawaka Library
DEPARTMENT: Administration
HOURS: Part Time
- 30 hours (specified hours are subject to change)
- Tuesday-Thursday: 1:00-7:15 p.m.
- Friday: 1:00-5:15 p.m.
- Saturday: 9:15-4:15 p.m.
WAGE: $23.00
Essential Job Duties
- Perform safety checks within the library on a consistent basis
- Address disruptive behaviors using appropriate de-escalation and redirection techniques in accordance to the library’s policies and procedures
- Respond and assist with emergency situations in a calm and competent manner
- Prepare and submit objective and accurate reports in a timely manner
- Enforce exclusion policies to banned patrons
- Provide directional guidance and other routine information to patrons
- Provide added security support for after-hours events
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or the equivalent
- Minimum of one year security experience related to the essential functions outlined above preferred
- Customer service experience preferred
Work Skills
- Ability to problem-solve and work cooperatively with patrons and staff
- Maintain composure and utilize good judgement under pressure
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop and walk
- Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds
