Computer Services maintains a 22-station Computer Lab at the downtown Mishawaka library for patrons entering 7th grade to adult providing a comfortable location for creative work and the pursuit of information utilizing computer technology. Computers in this room have Internet access and word processing programs, including Microsoft Office Professional 2003 with Publisher.

Flatbed scanners are also available for scanning pictures and documents as well as access to color printers. Use of the scanner is free, color prints are 50¢ each. Gloss paper is also available for an additional 50¢ each.

The Computer Lab is open every day the library is open (except when classes are scheduled) and closes fifteen minutes prior to the library's closing hours. Patrons may register in the Lab for one-hour Internet sessions or two hours on word processing, not to exceed 2 hours computer use per day.

Although the Computer Lab is intended to be a self-help area, library staff provide minimal, yet sufficient assistance to patrons who search the Internet or create documents on the library computers.

Reference area computer stations are designated "Reference/Research Only". These stations include INSPIRE, NoveList, Reference USA, Worldbook Online, Switchboard, CultureGrams Online, and other subscription databases. Internet is available for research purposes by request. General Internet browsing and email are not allowed on these stations.

The Heritage Center has two computers designated for genealogical research only. One station is loaded with various genealogy related CD-ROMs while the other has Internet access for genealogical research including access to Ancestry Library. 

The Bittersweet Branch Library has nine computers for Internet access, reference database use, and word processing. Patrons may call to reserve for up to one hour.

The Harris Branch Library has ten computer workstations for Internet and word processing with one scanner. Wireless laptops may also be checked out from the Reference desk for use within the building.

The Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library Computer Use Policy and Agreement must be completed and signed prior to use of all computers excluding the online catalog terminals. Children and teens up to age 18 must have a parent's permission card on file before using library computers.
